Until now, you could see how many people subscribed to your calendar but not who they were. As we've spoken with more creators on the platform, it's become increasingly clear that creators want a more direct relationship with their fans. And knowing who's subscribing is an important first step.

Of course, there are plenty of ways to collect email addresses. So we spent a lot of time thinking about a more fundamental question: Why should Stanza be one of them?

Fans want a direct connection

As we've now grown to 10M+ fans subscribing to calendars on Stanza, we've learned that fans don't add all their teams to their calendars. Only a handful make it to their calendars, while they might be following dozens of teams, artists, or creators on social media. If you've earned a place on someone's calendar, you're probably among the things they care about most.

For these creators, fans do want a direct connection rather than relying on social feeds for updates. But we also heard something equally important: that relationship shouldn't come at the expense of fan privacy.

Email collection done right

One of the things Substack got right was making the relationship between writers and readers direct. When someone subscribes to a publication, the writer knows who they are and can build a relationship with them beyond the platform.

Stanza now works the same way for calendars. When someone adds your calendar, they are subscribing to you. From the moment you turn on email collection, those subscribers are yours, and the relationship lives with you rather than disappearing into a follower count.

How to turn it on

1. Add the Add to Calendar button to your website or socials. This is how fans subscribe directly, and how we confirm the calendar is really yours.
2. Turn on email collection from the Audience tab on your calendar.

From that moment on, every new subscriber is yours. You can see and export the full list anytime, and we will send you a short daily digest of new subscribers and new reviews so you always know how your audience is growing.

Fair by design

Fans stay in control. They choose whether to share their email, can turn sharing off at any time, and every email you send honors unsubscribes. You only ever receive emails from people who subscribed after you turned collection on.
