⏰ Schedule Release: A Behind-the-Scenes Look
Schedule release day is one of the most exciting—and busiest—times of year at Stanza. For fans, it’s the moment everything becomes real: matchups, rivalries, road trips, prime time games. For us? It’s a tightly coordinated dance between creators, data partners, and infrastructure.
Here’s a peek behind the scenes.
📦 Before the Drop: Prep and Planning
The days leading up to schedule release are all about communication and coordination. We share our Schedule Release Guide with creators, prompt them to QA their calendar links, and make sure everything is ready on their end.

Internally, we’re tracking multiple data sources—official league announcements, API providers, and press leaks. For many sports, we maintain multiple data pipelines. This gives us a Plan A and Plan B (and sometimes Plan C), just in case one provider lags or fails to update.
The key? Being ready, but not jumping the gun. We’d rather do it right than do it twice.
🚨 When the Schedule Drops: Go Time
As soon as the official schedule goes live, everything kicks into gear.
We’re in close contact with our API partners and begin refreshing calendar data as soon as it becomes available. On the backend, our jobs kick off to update subscriber calendars. For users connected via Google Calendar, we push updates automatically. For others, our servers get ready to handle the surge in requests as calendars are pulled down.
It’s a balancing act of speed and stability—we want to get the updates out as fast as possible, without compromising accuracy or performance.

🛠️ When Things Don’t Go as Planned
Sometimes, delays happen. A data source lags. A schedule gets pulled and re-released.
Over the years, we’ve learned that switching providers mid-flight often causes more issues than it solves. So instead, we stay in touch with fans, post updates on X, and let them know the schedule will be live shortly. It’s better to get it right once—even if it takes a little extra time.
🎉 New Feature: Transparent Updates - Now subscribers know when their calendar last updated, so they never have to guess if they're looking at the latest events.
✍️ After the Drop: Your Turn
Once the initial rush is over, we hand the reins back to you.
Now’s the time to make any manual edits you want:
- Highlight key matchups
- Add ticketing or livestream links
- Include promo events or sales
- Customize game titles or descriptions
Updates made in the dashboard are automatically reflected in your subscribers’ calendars—no need to re-share.
We also encourage you to share your calendar far and wide: social, email, website banners, you name it. You can track performance directly in your creator dashboard.

💡 One Last Thing
Schedule release may only happen once a year—but how you present it can shape your entire season. Our job is to make sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so you can focus on building hype, sharing content, and connecting with your fans.
If you have questions or need support, email us at founders@stanza.co. We’ve got your back.
